Brilliant Goal Planning Strategies for every aspect in life.
What are the characteristics of good goal planning? You will find the explanation of each factor in this article.
Brilliant Goal Planning Strategies- SMART
There are five characteristic of good goal planning: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Reason and Time based. In short and easy-to-remember form: it’s SMART!
First Brilliant Goal Planning Strategies- Specific
First, you need to know if your goal is specific or not. Specific goal tells you what and how to do to reach it. For example, if you want to get good grade in reading, you should set your goal that” I want to get 90+ in reading by may this year” instead of “I want to get good grade in reading this year?”. This means that your need to get at least 90 marks in reading this year. That’s very specific.
After that, that goal needs to be measurable. For example: you should determine that “I want to make no more than C each 9 weeks” rather than “I will get a lot of good test grades”? Grade C is measurable because it marks the rank of medium score from 70 to 80, which is pretty clear and you set the period of 9 weeks. So, your goal is measurable.
Third, your goal has to be attainable. To get this, you need to put all factors, internal and external, together and decide what is your capacity to do it. For example: after you sum up all factors such as time availability, basic knowledge, family status, level of motivation … you find that you are able to attain excellence grade on 7 out of 10 tests. So, you would determine that” I want to make an A on 7 out of 10 tests”.
Fourth, you should have the good reason to attain that goal. Some reason is not reasonable or discourage you from moving on. Good reason will motivate you along the way. For example, you want to improve good grade of reading because you need it in every aspect of your life. Every subject need reading. So, when you are good at reading, you may do great jobs in other subjects too.
Last but not least, it’s time base. It’s mean that you need to set specific time or period for that goal so you can access or evaluate your achievements, access your strengths or weaknesses and you know what to improve for the next planning.
Totally, SMART is the great goal setting strategies for everyone to practice in every aspect of life.
